Taylor Coffey is a Registered Psychologist (7852) with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). He completed his Master of Counselling in Counselling Psychology in 2021.
Taylor believes in the uniquity of each person, the dynamic nature of life, and that an essential part of therapy is laughter. His goals as a Psychologist are to create a trauma-informed space where clients feel heard and validated, to amplify the voices of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, and approach life in a sex positive way – all so that his clients can find wellness through authenticity and personal integration.
Taylor holds specialized training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), forensic risk assessment, violence risk assessment, traumatic event response, and General Psychiatric Management for those living with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
He uses a variety of modalities depending on the needs of each client, including motivational interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The bulk of Taylor’s career up to this point has focused on working with adolescents and young adults with substance abuse concerns or problematic sexualized behaviour concerns, alongside their families and parents.
In his spare time, Taylor loves to be involved in the local queer community, spending time with his husband and their two girls, hitting the gym, and crafting.
