Olaitan Adelakun is a Registered Provisional Psychologist (P8103) with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
Olaitan holds specialized training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Gottman Method therapy for couples. She also offers Christian counselling for those who wish to incorporate their faith into their healing process.
Olaitan brings over 10 years of professional experience in both the non-profit sector and with the Government of Alberta, where she served as an Alberta Supports Coordinator. In this role, she worked closely with diverse populations, including children and families, seniors, individuals with disabilities, and newcomers navigating major life transitions.
Olaitan is passionate about supporting individuals—youth (18+), adults, and couples dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, anger, relationship, and other behavioural challenges that can impact quality of life. Her background has provided her with a deep understanding of the complex social, cultural, and systemic factors that can impact mental health and well-being. She understands the importance of culturally sensitive and inclusive counselling practices and intentionally integrates this approach into her work with clients.
Olaitan recognizes that seeking therapy can be a difficult decision, and she genuinely commends you for taking this meaningful step towards your wellbeing. While our past experiences play an important role in shaping who we are as individuals, she believes that they do not have to define who we become or limit our potential.
She is dedicated to supporting you with compassion, respect, and collaborative therapeutic environment where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment. She is committed to supporting you in building resilience, gaining new perspective, accessing helpful resources, and developing practical tools to achieving meaningful and personal growth.
Olaitan looks forward to partnering with you in processing your emotions and guiding you toward living a liberated and empowered life. She offers services in both English and Yoruba.
