Vanessa’s journey in psychology began with a B.A. in Psychology from Universidad del Valle de México in Mexico City. In 2018, she immigrated to Canada, where she completed her M.A. in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
She has a special passion for working with adolescents (ages 12–18) and adults of all ages, supporting clients through challenges such as addictions, behavioural disorders, sexual abuse and assault, physical and domestic violence, trauma, eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. As an immigrant herself, Vanessa understands the feelings of homesickness, isolation, and marginalisation that can come with adjusting to a new culture.
Vanessa’s therapeutic style is rooted in Person-Centered Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and is currently pursuing training in EMDR. She strives to create a safe, calm, and compassionate space where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. Her approach is collaborative, always recognising that each client is the expert on their own life.
By offering counselling in both English and Spanish, Vanessa is able to reach and support a broader community, guiding clients toward insight, clarity, and practical solutions at a pace that feels right for them.
