Meghan is a Master of Counselling student at City University in Edmonton and is completing her practicum at Refocus You. She completed her undergraduate degree in Criminology at MacEwan University, where she developed a deep interest in understanding human behavior and the systems that shape people’s lives.

Meghan is known for creating a space that feels real and transparent. She takes a genuine and direct approach, helping clients explore what’s underneath the surface, looking at their inner experiences and the patterns they fall into that shape their lives. She believes that clients are in the driver’s seat of their own healing, and her role is to walk alongside them, offering support, reflection, and guidance when needed while empowering them to move toward the changes that matter most to them.

Alongside her practicum, Meghan continues to work at Connections Intensive Treatment, supporting children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, including sexual and physical abuse, neglect, and suicidal ideation. Her work focuses on helping youth understand what they have been through and make sense of their experiences in a way that fosters healing and emotional processing. From there, she gently guides them toward rebuilding a sense of safety within themselves and forming healthy connections with their families and communities. Her approach emphasizes helping youth move forward with a stronger sense of identity and resilience, rather than remaining defined by the pain of their past. Much of her role also involves supporting parents in setting healthy boundaries and helping children rediscover what it means to be a child again, especially within families affected by addiction or intergenerational trauma. Through this work, Meghan has developed awareness of Indigenous perspectives and community-based healing approaches, recognizing that culture is unique to each person and shapes how they live and heal.

Her previous experience also includes working with young adults facing addiction and homelessness through the Edmonton John Howard Society. Meghan’s counselling approach draws from Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). She uses these frameworks flexibly, meeting clients where they’re at and helping them move toward intentional change.

Outside of her work, Meghan loves being outdoors-especially hiking and spending time in the mountains. She stays active through running and CrossFit and enjoys traveling and discovering new places. When she’s home, she’s happiest curled up on the couch with her dog, Gia.
