Kennedy Reitsma (she/her)

Kennedy is a Masters in Applied and Counselling Psychology student at Yorkville University, completing her practicum at ReFocus You. She has a passion for mental health and helping clients not just survive, but thrive. With Kennedy, you can expect a warm, bubbly and caring presence. Drawing from approaches such as Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy (NT), Structural Family Therapy (SFT), and more, she approaches all clients with respect, empathy, culturally competent care, and compassion. Kennedy practices from an integrated approach, pulling elements from evidence based psychological theories that will best suit your concerns and needs.

Knowing what it is like to sit in the client chair, her approach is collaborative, trusting, and is a person-centered space that feels safe to explore challenges, learn new skills, share hard things, and work towards goals that best align with your needs. Kennedy has a passion for working with folks of all ages and backgrounds, with an interest in working with folks who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, emotional dysregulation, caregiver burnout, perfectionism, trauma, and more.

Outside of the office, you can find Kennedy going for walks in the many beautiful parks in the Edmonton area, exploring farmers markets, reading, trying new recipes, going to concerts, watching hockey or spending time with loved ones. She looks forward to the opportunity to get to know you, hear your stories, learn about your experiences and work together.
