Tessa Lawlor

Tessa Lawlor is a Registered Psychologist (6424) with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and is a member with the Psychologist Association of Alberta (PAA). 

She obtained her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) through Yorkville University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alberta. Prior to completing her master’s degree, Tessa worked with people with disabilities for six years. She has always been passionate about working with people and helping them realize their full potential. Tessa firmly believes every individual is capable of growing, making positive changes, and she is committed to supporting individuals on their journey to healing and personal wellness. She demonstrates a deep sense of compassion and empathy for others and creates collaborative relationships with her clients to help them live a happier, healthier, and more resilient life.

Tessa’s therapeutic approach is grounded in principles of inclusivity and empowerment. She has a particular passion for working with teens and adults from diverse backgrounds, including those living with trauma or disabilities. She strongly believes that everyone has the potential to lead a fulfilling and meaningful life, regardless of the challenges they face. She is passionate about helping clients navigate a variety of concerns, including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, identity issues, perfectionism, self-esteem, shame, living with disabilities, and grief.

In her practice, she employs a range of techniques and interventions, including person-centered, Narrative Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). She is also trained to use play therapy with children, and The Gottman Method with couples.
